Professional Profile

Dr. Alexander Kagaha is a Wellcome Trust Postdoctoral Researcher at Makerere University School of Public Health. His research investigates the power and politics of medical practice, healthcare policy, and material technologies, with a particular focus on how social, political, and ecological forces influence health systems and disease experiences.

His doctoral research explored abortion care delivery in Uganda's restrictive legal and moral environment, revealing how power, risk, and healthcare inequities become embedded within institutional practices. His current work examines malaria in infants and young children through the lens of planetary health, consciousness, and human-environment interactions.

Beyond health systems research, Dr. Kagaha's scholarship critically examines global health governance, colonial legacies in knowledge production, and the politics of absence in African research and postdoctoral training.
